I'm Kt and I'm an Equestrian & Digital Artist.
Katie = ‘Horse Girl’ + ‘Art Kid’

I grew up riding horses in eastern Iowa—competing in eventing, trail riding along the Mississippi, and doing just about any horse activity I could find. Some of my most vivid memories aren’t from the show ring, but from the quiet, in-between places: the pasture, the barn aisle, the back trails. That perspective still shapes how I photograph the horse world today.

My path to equine photography wasn’t linear. I earned a BA in Communication Design, spent years working as an art director and motion designer in the commercial world, and completed an MFA in Digital Arts while juggling full-time agency life. Eventually, I followed a long-held dream to the West, spending three and a half years as the in-house creative and marketing director at a historic guest ranch in Montana.

In 2023, life brought me back to the Midwest to be closer to family—and with that transition came the leap to pursue equine photography full time. I founded The Framed Equestrian to blend my creative background with my lifelong connection to horses.

Since then, I’ve been the official photographer for the Adequan®/USDF Annual Convention and Awards Gala. I shoot primarily USDF-recognized dressage shows, USEA horse trials, and regional Midwest schooling events. During the winter months, I travel to Florida, North Carolina, and California for shows, private sessions, and editorial projects. In general, I’m available for travel nationwide and always happy to discuss custom coverage wherever your barn or event may be.

My work is driven by my goal to document the horse world one day at a time—and that every horse-and-human pair has a story worth preserving. I’m here to capture it all, with honesty, artistry, and respect.

Let’s tell your story—whether you’re chasing a goal or just taking time to enjoy the ride.
